Y’all, America is turning 250. I have one question: WWRD. What Would Ralph Do? So I went hunting for the three versions of summer I love most: the coast, the mountains and lakes, and the West. Think of this as a road trip through my version of the American summer.

THE COAST

I kicked off my summer walking the streets of Sag Harbor with my girlfriends and playing tennis on the coveted grass courts of Southampton. Who am I? I’ve romanticized East coast summers since I first visited as a little girl. The balance of farmland and perfect cedar shake houses does something to my soul. From the coast of Maine to the shores of South Carolina, the coast provides the perfect backdrop for America’s 250th birthday.
